In the former depot on Rigi Kulm, a new exhibition brings the age of steam to life. It is open daily, free of charge and a rewarding stop in any weather. Two films trace the history of Lok 7 and the Rigi Railways, with 19th-century photographs animated by artificial intelligence so that the people in them appear to speak.
A depot becomes an exhibition
The former depot on Rigi Kulm now houses a free exhibition around Lok 7, open daily and a natural addition to any programme on the Rigi that works whatever the weather.
Photographs from 1900, brought to life
Two short films take visitors through the history of Lok 7 and the Rigi Railways, using historical photographs animated with artificial intelligence so that figures from the 19th century seem to tell their own story.
One of a kind
Built in 1873, Lok 7 is the world’s only operational cogwheel steam locomotive with a vertical boiler. On selected dates it still climbs the Rigi under steam. Europe’s first mountain railway remains a classic among our mountain experiences.
How to sell it
