From late March to early June, travellers on board the Gornergrat railway enjoy the alpine spring in all its splendour. Among the melting snow, the emerging flowers create a brightly coloured playground for hikers and photographers.
As spring awakens on the Gornergrat, every train ride on the mountain railway to the summit becomes a sensory experience. Bright white patches of snow linger on the slopes. Around them, alpine wildflowers dot the meadows add soft notes of their scent to the crisp air.
The Gornergrat Railway offers a scenic journey through this awakening landscape, climbing from Zermatt at 1,620 metres above sea level to 3,089 metres at the summit. The journey takes 33 minutes with services every 24 minutes.
