Stoos

In the heart of Switzerland, a technical innovation sets a world record: the world’s steepest funicular railway from Schwyz to Stoos.

With a world record, the steepest funicular in the world fascinates visitors from near and far. Innovative technology allows the cabins to perfectly adapt to the slope, ensuring that passengers travel comfortably upward despite the 110% gradient.

Nestled in the Alpine landscape of Central Switzerland, the holiday village of Stoos lies at around 1,300 meters above sea level. The new funicular can transport 1,500 passengers per hour—about 500 more than the old funicular. That’s thanks to the short travel time of four to seven minutes.
