New 11-month advance sales period for incoming products

Effective 1 September 2026, the advance booking period for selected incoming products will be extended from six to eleven months. This applies to the Swiss Travel Pass, the Swiss Half Fare Card, mountain experiences, and Tailor-made route tickets.

This measure means Swiss public transport can be integrated earlier into international travel planning and further strengthens the competitiveness of the incoming product range.

Greater flexibility for international travel planning

International guests often book flights, hotels, and other travel services many months in advance. With the new advance booking period, distribution partners can now integrate and sell Swiss public transport at the same time as other travel services.

Alignment with international booking standards

The new eleven-month advance booking period is in line with common booking windows for international rail products and many airline offers. Comparable products such as Interrail and Eurostar are already bookable far in advance. This adjustment improves the positioning of Swiss public transport in international travel planning.

Benefits for distribution partners and guests

Earlier availability simplifies planning and sales processes for tour operators and distribution partners. At the same time, guests benefit from a more seamless booking process with the early integration of transport services. The longer advance booking period also supports additional sales and strengthens the case for public transport.

Implementation for timetable-dependent products

Implementation will be coordinated with the availability of timetable data and technical systems, particularly for timetable-dependent Tailor-made route tickets. As a result, the effective advance booking period may still be limited in certain cases.
