Brienz Rothorn Railway: Season ends prematurely, Sörenberg cableway not affected
Due to a storm on 12th August 2024, the Brienz Rothorn Railway track is severely damaged
Operations for the current season have therefore been suspended. The repair work will take several months and cost around CHF 5 million. The mountain hotel “Rothorn Kulm” has also ended the season early. Railway operations are expected to resume in May 2025.

Brienzer Rothorn still accessible by cableway
Guests who don’t want to miss the sweeping views from the top of the Brienzer Rothorn are in luck. The storm did not impact the cableway from Sörenberg and will continue to transport guests to the Brienzer Rothorn from the other side. It will run according to the official timetable, with departures every 20 minutes. The Sörenberg cableway concludes its summer season on 3 November 2024. The restaurant will also remain open.
