Bernina Express modernizes its trains

Until next spring, the Bernina Express will undergo a comprehensive modernization of its trains. The entire fleet will undergo a so-called “Refit Soft” by April 2025 to improve comfort and amenities for passengers.

What does the Refit Program include?

Upgraded Interior Design: The coaches will receive a new, modern look with foiled walls and new carpets in both classes. In 1st class, the previous leather seats will be replaced with new, upholstered seats.

More Comfort and Functionality: Power outlets will be installed at every seat to allow the use of electronic devices during the journey. Additional luggage racks and wardrobes will create more storage space for luggage. New toilet facilities with foiled walls will ensure greater hygiene and comfort.

From December 2024 onwards, the Bernina Express will depart Chur 11 minutes earlier. All details are available in the new Sales Manual.
