Join us as Maurus Lauber grants us a brief insight into the experiences and lessons learned over the past 14 years  

After 14 unforgettable, formative, exciting, turbulent and successful years as CEO of Swiss Travel System AG, I will be handing over this great company to my esteemed successor Sara Roloff at the end of 2024.

With a great deal of enthusiasm, back in 2011 the young start-up STS AG set out to spark enthusiasm for Swiss public transport in its guests from all over the world. Thanks especially to a fantastic team and the great support of our trade and tourism partners, we have been able to grow our turnover by more than 300% during this time.

What have I, what have we, learned during these years? To tell the whole story would fill an entire book. Here are my five key takeaways:

1. Focus on the customer
   Trying to understand the needs of our trade partners and guests has always been at the heart of our success. This has helped us to continuously improve our services.
   

2. Strong partnerships 
   The international success of Swiss public transport is a joint effort. Our growth was only possible thanks to close cooperation with our distribution partners as well as tourism organisations and the media. These genuine and strong partnerships have been essential to successfully positioning Swiss public transport worldwide.

3. Sustainability 
   Sustainability has never been an option for us, but always a necessity. The Swiss Travel System offers the ideal basis for combining social, economic and ecological responsibilities.

4. The team as capital 
   A motivated team is the foundation for satisfied customers. The passion and commitment of our employees has always been crucial to our success.

5. Crises as stepping stones
   Every challenge – be it the COVID-19 pandemic or other unforeseen market changes – presents an opportunity to improve and progress. I look back with some pride at the way we, as a team, repeatedly responded to turbulent times: with agility and always focusing on the solution.
   

Our vision of sharing our passion for Swiss public transport with our guests has always kept us on target. You have been an indispensable partner and a major success factor along the way. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart and wish you a successful journey.
